Course summaryThe Cambridge CELTA is the most popular and widely recognised initial qualification in teaching English as a foreign language. It is about understanding the principles of effective teaching and learning practical teaching skills. Success in the CELTA has enabled many candidates to obtain their first teaching position and has long been considered the basic requirement for teaching English to adults worldwide. It is an introductory course and is designed for people with little or no previous teaching experience and for teachers with some experience who have no formal training. The course is open to native speakers of English and to people whose first language is not English. However, the applicants are required to have a very high standard of English (C1-C2 level.
